Valéry runs programmes that tackle environmental and social problems through sport. He grew up in sport and had a career in swimming and triathlon for about 15 years. His main athletic achievements include winning silver and bronze medals at the Indian Ocean Island Games in 2011.
Precious Plastic Maurice a community-based initiative involved in plastic recycling and ocean protection. The project converts plastic trash into sport equipment which is subsequently used in educational sport activities where the goal is to create life-long behavioural changes in children regarding the importance of physical activity and the consequences of plastic pollution. Regular beach and mangrove clean-ups are also organised. The programme has recently expanded with the construction of a bigger recycling hub. The programme intends to support the fishermen affected by the recent MV Wakashio shipwreck and oil spill on the coral reef of Mauritius.
