Sofie is an enthusiastic and inquisitive team player with a passion for sport. After finishing her two degrees in sports and communication and information sciences, she started working at the Dutch Olympic Committee (NOC*NSF) as an advisor for international sport events. Outside work, she loves travelling, windsurfing and biking.
The current project builds on a previous NOC*NSF sports project that identified girls and women as an underrepresented target group in asylum seeker sports participation. The project aims to enable girls or women from an asylum seeker centre in Utrecht – the Dutch city with the highest percentage of refugees living in asylum seeker centers - to participate in sports by facilitating linkage to sports clubs. This will be facilitated through a needs assessment, information sessions, provision of transport and equipment.
The project began with Zumba classes in the first week of September.
