When Haile Gebrselassie was a little child, he used to run 10 km to school everyday and another 10km back home. Haile became one of the most sucessful long distance runners of all time. At the 1996 Games, Gebrselassie claimed his first Olympic gold medal in the 10000m event, he crossed the finish line in 27:07.34, setting a new Olympic record.
