London 2012 - Australia's Anna Meares claimed gold in the women's Sprint after defeating rival Victoria Pendleton of Great Britain in the best-of-three final. Pendleton, hoping to finish her career with a third Olympic gold, thought she had won the first contest, but she strayed from the sprinting lane and commissaires awarded the Australian victory.
