    In 1972, Teofilo Stevenson of Cuba became a heavyweight Olympic champion, capturing his first ever gold medal. Four years later he defended his Olympic title in Montreal. At the 1980 Moscow Games, Teofilo went down in Olympic history by becoming the first boxer to earn the gold medal in the same division three times. Stevenson finished his career in 1988 with 302 victories and only 22 loses.     Albert Hill’s Double Olympic Gold - Athletics

    British athlete Albert Hill was 35 by the time of the Antwerp 1920 Olympic Games. He had served for 3 years in France and had been in doubt to compete because of a previous shin injury just before the games.   Having made it to the Olympic Games, Hill had already taken gold in the 800 metres competition leaving favourites Earl Eby from the USA and Bevill Rudd from South Africa to take the silver and bronze medals, respectively.   For the 1500m final, the conditions were far from perfect, with a downpour that made the track soggy. However, supported by his fellow British athlete Philip Noel-Baker, Albert Hill gained a comfortable lead, taking the gold medal once again.   Albert Hill’s double Olympic gold in the 800 and 1500 metres was only achieved again by a British athlete in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games with Kelly Holmes.

    In November 2009, Davide REBELLIN of Italy, competing in the Men's Cycling Individual Road Race event, in which he ranked 2nd and for which he was awarded the silver medal, has been disqualified from the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. Spaniard Samuel Sanchez bested the charging pack of riders in the final moments of the men's 245-kilometer Olympic cycling road race. The 30-year-old cyclist clocked six hours 23 minutes and 49 seconds to win the Olympic cycling gold medal.
