In the women's K1 France's Emilie Fer saw off a challenge from Slovakian world number one Jana Dukatova, while Australia's Jessica Fox came second to win silver. Meanwhile, Etienne Stott and Tim Baillie landed a GB one-two, as they claimed gold ahead of countrymen David Florence and Richard Hounslow to start a new era for Britain in the men's C2.

    The Belarusian crew paddles to claim the K4 1000m gold medal, just ten minutes after two of its members, the Bahdanovich brothers, won gold in the C2 1000m. Belarus crosses the half way mark in second place, but powers to take the lead from Slovakia to win in 2:55.714. Slovakia, crosses the line in 2:56.593, just hundredths of a second ahead of the German crew, silver medallist in Athens, now settling for bronze.
