    After six and a half hours of action and 254 slalom runs, Adam Hofstedt and Emma Sahlin kept it simple on Tuesday by topping the men’s and women’s slalom podiums for Sweden.

    Thabo Rateleki: the South African trailblazer

    Thabo Rateleki had never skied outside South Africa before. Before these Youth Olympic Games (YOG), he’d never even taken a plane before. But, standing at the slalom finish line, he was absolutely delighted to have completed the two runs on the icy slope at Les Diablerets. He and his team-mate Hanle Van der Merwe are Africa’s sole representatives at these YOG.

    London 2012 - Italy's Daniele Molmenti celebrated his 28th birthday as he snatched gold in the Kayak Slalom. The current European champion, who could only manage 10th in Beijing, won in a time of 93.43, ahead of the Czech Republic's Vavrinec Hradilek in silver and Germany's Hannes Aigner, who claimed bronze.
