    IOC President awards the Olympic Order to PyeongChang 2018 organisers

    A spectacular PyeongChang 2018 Closing Ceremony last night brought to a conclusion 16 days of outstanding sport in fantastic venues and Games that have opened up numerous new opportunities for the Olympic Movement and the Republic of Korea. As International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach said: “the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 are the Games of New Horizons”. This morning, President Bach hosted a thank-you breakfast for the Games organisers to show them the Olympic Movement’s gratitude for the quality of the Games’ organisation.

    POCOG brings Olympic Winter Games to a new level

    The PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committee (POCOG) delivered a Games wrap-up report to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session today, underlining the successes and challenges of organising the XXIII Olympic Winter Games. IOC President Thomas Bach summed up the presentation by telling the Session that “POCOG and our Korean friends and partners have brought the Olympic Winter Games to a new level.”

    Coventry unanimously elected on IOC Executive Board as Session concludes

    The 132nd International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session concluded its meeting in PyeongChang today with a unanimous vote to elect Kirsty Coventry, incoming Chair of the IOC Athletes’ Commission, to the Executive Board (EB). Three athletes were also elected as IOC Members.
