    Ice hockey legend Cristobal Huet with Lausanne 2020

    French-Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper Cristobal Huet has had an extraordinary career. A French international between 1997 and 2017, Huet competed at the Olympic Winter Games in 1998 and 2002 and in 11 World Championships. He also enjoyed a long, successful stint in the NHL, during which time he became the first player from his country to win the Stanley Cup, in 2010. He spent his final six seasons at Lausanne Hockey Club, where he went on to become the team’s goalkeeping coach. Here, we speak to the ice hockey legend and Ambassador for the Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020.

    17 May 1928 at the Games in Amsterdam: when the world discovered magician Dhyan Chand

    India, which was then part of the British Empire, took part in its first Olympic field hockey tournament at the Games in Amsterdam, and won it. This was the first in a series of eight victories up to 1980. The team, which started with a 6-0 win over Austria on 17 May 1928, had a real magician, Dhyan Chand, as one of its members.

    The women’s skicross world number one, winner of the 2018-2019 season’s World Cup and silver medallist at the 2019 World Championships, is from Villars-sur-Ollon in the Vaud Alps. Fanny Smith’s resort will be one of the competition venues for the YOG Lausanne 2020, for skicross in particular. As an Ambassador for these YOG, she helped to design the course and skied it in January in front of her fans as part of the European Cup. Below is an interview with a totally committed champion.
