In the table tennis competitions at Rio 2016, China once again took a clean sweep of the titles on offer. While defending champions Li Xiaoxia and Zhang Jike were beaten in the singles, compatriots Ding Ning and Ma Long ensured that their crowns stayed in China. In the team competitions, the four singles finalists powered to victory alongside Liu Shiwen in the women’s team and Xu Xin in the men’s team.

Ma Long helped China overcome a tougher than expected challenge from Japan to win the gold medal match 3-1 in the men's table tennis team event.

It is fair to say their London 2012 Olympics clean sweep has done little to suggest China's dominance of Table Tennis is going to end any time soon.

London 2012 - Germany's Table Tennis team took bronze in the competition as their trio of Timo Boll, Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Bastian Steger beat Hong Kong 3-1.
