As the United Nations marks International Human Solidarity Day on 20 December, olympic.org reflects on some of the most memorable acts of solidarity at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Buenos Aires 2018.

Basketball 3x3 proved a big hit at Buenos Aires 2018, giving a taste of the excitement it is sure to generate when it makes its full Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020. Argentina’s men’s team had the home flags waving when they won gold, while the USA swept all before them in the women’s competition.

The three archery events attracted large crowds at Parque Sarmiento, where the USA’s Trenton Cowles shone brighter than most, winning bronze in the mixed international team competition and gold in the men’s recurve individual. China’s Mengyao Zhang took the honours in the women’s individual competition, while France’s Kyla Touraine-Helias and Spain’s José Manuel Solera won the mixed team gold.

The River Plate provided the setting as the Techno 293+ windsurfing class and the Nacra 15 catamaran class were joined on the Olympic sailing programme by the IKA Twin Tip Racing kiteboarding class, with all three serving up some excellent entertainment for the spectators.
