    Boxing Road to Tokyo 2020 - Athlete Ambassadors Group announced

    Ten Athlete Ambassadors have been appointed by the Olympic Boxing Task Force (BTF) to engage with and represent boxers in the lead-up to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. One female and one male Ambassador per region will take on the role of engaging with the boxing community both in person and digitally. They will also help the BTF take into account the athletes’ voice in all areas of its planning for the qualification events and the boxing tournament at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

    Paavo Nurmi seals record medal tally at Amsterdam 1928

    There have been a number of “Flying Finns” in the history of sport and the Olympic Games, but the greatest of all was Paavo Nurmi, winner of nine Olympic gold medals, which is still the record for athletics at the Games. He secured his ninth title in the 10,000m on 29 July 1928 in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam, following an umpteenth titanic battle with compatriot Ville Ritola.
