    Bjørn Daehlie ends his Olympic career in style at Nagano 1998

    Bjørn Daehlie competed at his last Games in 1998 in Nagano, at the age of 30. He had already racked up eight Olympic medals – including five golds – since Albertville 1992 Winter Olympic Games. In the snow in Hakuba, he won another four medals, including three golds, finishing on 22 February, the day of the Closing Ceremony, with an epic victory at the 50km finish line.

    The unique achievement of sisters Marielle and Christine Goitschel at Innsbruck 1964

    On 3 February 1964 at the IX Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck, the Goitschel sisters achieved something remarkable. After a Christine-Marielle one-two finish in the slalom, the two French skiers, born in 1944 and 1945 respectively, repeated the feat in the giant slalom, but in reverse order, with Marielle finishing ahead of Christine. Other brothers and sisters have secured one-two finishes at the Winter Games, but never twice in a row. Today, we celebrate the anniversary of a remarkable piece of history.
