    Ledecky and Hosszú sparkle in the Rio 2016 pool

    Winning four golds and five medals, the USA’s Katie Ledecky completed a historic 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle hat-trick, breaking two world records in the process. Not far behind was Hungary’s Katinka Hosszú, who lived up to her nickname of the “Iron Lady” by negotiating a punishing schedule to pick up three golds and four medals in total, setting world and Olympic records in the two individual medleys.

    Great Britain rules the track in Rio Velodrome

    In the track cycling at Rio 2016, Great Britain were the big winners with six golds. Both their men’s and women’s pursuit teams set new world records, Jason Kenny took an impressive three titles and his girlfriend Laura Trott won the omnium. There were also maiden track cycling wins for China in the women’s team sprint and Italy’s Elia Viviani in the men’s omnium.

    Golf: Nanjing athletes usher in stylish Olympic comeback

    Golf made its much anticipated return to the Olympic programme in Nanjing, 108 years after its last appearance and two years before the stars of the game go for gold in Rio. The talented teenagers who took to the course at the Zhongshan International Golf Club produced plenty of thrills in both the individual strokeplay competitions and the all-new mixed team event.
