    Today at PyeongChang 2018: Saturday 17 February

    On a day with something to suit everyone, the medal action kicks off with the free programme in the men’s figure skating and the women’s super-G, and draws to a close with the men’s large hill individual at the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre. In between these exciting events come the women’s biathlon mass start, the women’s 4x5km relay in cross-country skiing, the women’s ski slopestyle and the final two rounds of the women’s skeleton. Meanwhile, home fans will be looking forward to the women’s 1,500m and men’s 1,000m short track finals.

    Hansdotter takes her first gold in women’s slalom

    Frida Hansdotter delivered two consistently fast and aggressive runs to take her first Olympic gold medal in the women’s slalom event on Friday 16 February at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

    Today at PyeongChang 2018: Friday 16 February

    Seven titles are up for grabs today at PyeongChang, with the men’s skeleton first up, followed by the women’s slalom and men’s super-G in Alpine Skiing. The men’s cross-country skiers will be taking on the 15km freestyle, the women are up in the snowboard cross, ski jumpers will be heading to Phoenix Park and the women’s 5,000m speed skating is on. Also on is the women's freestyle skiing event. The men’s figure skating also kicks off with the short programme.

    Shiffrin wins giant slalom gold number two

    Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) has won gold in the women’s giant slalom at PyeongChang 2018, adding to the slalom title she won at Sochi 2014. Norway’s Ragnhild Mowinckel took silver at the Yongpyong Alpine Centre, while Federica Brignone of Italy took bronze.

    More gold medals are up for grabs today on the snow and ice: the men’s downhill, the women's slalom, the men’s biathlon 20km individual, the women’s 10km free in cross-country skiing, the men’s snowboard cross, the luge team relay and the men’s speed skating 10,000m, while, in the figure skating the pairs competition reaches its conclusion with the free programme.

    Flawless freestyler Kingsbury wins gold in men’s moguls

    Canadian Mikael Kingsbury saved his best performance until last to win the gold medal at Phoenix Park in the at PyeongChang2018 freestyle skiing men’s moguls on Monday 12 February.

    Seven gold medals are up for grabs on what promises to be an action-packed day. Both male and female biathletes will go for glory in the pursuit; while the figure skating team event reaches its conclusion in Gangneung. The freestyle skiers will battle it out in the men’s moguls final, while the destiny of the gold medal in the women’s snowboard slopestyle will also be decided. Back in Gangneung, the spotlight shines on the women’s 1,500m speed skating, and the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre will see the culmination of the second ever women’s Olympic ski jumping competition.

    Japanese moguls sensation Horishima ready for PyeongChang

    Ikuma Horishima took the moguls world by storm in March 2017, becoming the first person to complete a moguls/dual moguls double at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada. A relative unknown prior to his stunning performance, the Japanese skier was the winner of the last stage of the World Cup before PyeongChang 2018, and will figure large among the favourites for gold at Phoenix Park on 12 February.

    Kingsbury primed for maiden Olympic gold

    Canada’s Mikael Kingsbury is widely regarded as the best moguls skier of all time. He capped a majestic 2016/17 season by winning a sixth consecutive overall FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup title and a sixth straight small crystal globe. Despite all his success, he is yet to win an Olympic gold, as he was pipped to the top of the podium at Sochi 2014 by compatriot Alexandre Bilodeau.

    Team player Worley ready for multi-medal challenge at PyeongChang 2018

    As well as being the reigning world champion in giant slalom, Tessa Worley is a member of the French quartet that holds the world title in the team event, which is set to make its Olympic debut in 2018. Moreover, her strong recent showings in the super-G suggest she will be in the running for as many as three medals in PyeongChang.
