    IOC President Thomas Bach dived into the future of technology, society and sport on a three-day tour through Silicon Valley this week. Accompanied by the Chairman of the Olympic Channel Board Madrid, Juan Antonio Samaranch; the President of the Organising Committee of the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018, Gerardo Werthein; the Chairman of the Olympic Channel Commission, Larry Probst; and the  Chairman of the Communication Commission, Camiel Eurlings, he visited the IOC Top Partners VISA and Samsung, as well as other major companies.

    Men’s biathlon: Bjørndalen makes history as hosts enjoy grand finale

    Ole Einar Bjørndalen confirmed his status as one of the all-time Winter Olympic greats, winning two more golds in Sochi to take his overall tally to 13 medals, more than any other winter athlete in history. Meanwhile Martin Fourcade added a pair of golds of his own, and Anton Shipulin spearheaded a Russian triumph in the relay on the final day of competition.

    Svendsen builds critical mass to break French resistance over 15km

    Norwegian biathlete Emil Hegle Svendsen triumphed in a thrilling men’s 15km mass start to deny France’s Martin Fourcade a third gold medal at Sochi 2014. As the two men recorded the same time of 49 minutes 29.1 seconds, it needed a photo-finish decision to determine the top two spots on the podium. Czech biathlete Ondrej Moravec came in 13.8 seconds later to claim the bronze.

    Charles Hamelin, a family affair on ice

    Canadian short track speed skater Charles Hamelin is hoping Sochi 2014 will produce a repeat of Vancouver 2010, where he won 500m gold and his brother Francois and fiancée Marianne Saint-Gelais also picked up short track medals.
