With 132 days to go until the Opening Ceremony of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games, the Olympic flame was lit in Ancient Olympia, Greece, during a ceremony organised by the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC).

Ice hockey star and Sochi 2014 Ambassador Alexander Ovechkin became the first Russian torchbearer of the relay as the Olympic flame begun its journey to Sochi for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, following its lighting in Ancient Olympia, Greece.
