Further to the approval of a series of amendments to the Tokyo 2020 qualification system principles by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Qualification Task Force in April 2020, the review of the International Federation (IF) qualification processes for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and each sport has now been finalised.

As at the Summer Games Tokyo 2020, a large number of the new events on the programme of the next winter edition, in Beijing in 2022, are mixed. After biathlon, Alpine skiing, figure skating and curling, there will soon be exciting competitions featuring mixed teams in snowboarding, freestyle skiing, short-track speed skating and ski jumping!

The Tokyo 1964 Olympic equestrian centre has been given a stunning facelift, while the Bay-side cross-country route is beautiful. The riders can’t wait to get to grips with it again next summer. 

With one year to go, we asked the International Federations what they were especially looking forward to about the upcoming Olympic Games. Here is what they answered.
