    IOC adapts to a changing landscape and streamlines its operations

    The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is adapting to a changing landscape and streamlining its operations. After consultations with the HR Committee and the Executive Board (EB), the administration – under the leadership of Director General Christophe De Kepper – will change the portfolio of a number of its departments and consolidate the centres of competence within the organisation. The objective is for the IOC administration to adapt its organisational structure to the new activities and priorities under Olympic Agenda 2020.

    Ariarne Titmus achieves the impossible one year ahead of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

    Eighteen-year-old Australian Ariarne Titmus left her mark on the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju by dethroning the queen of the pool, Katie Ledecky, in the 400m event. The American had remained undefeated in this distance since the Olympic Games London 2012. Rematch will be the name of the game at Tokyo 2020.

    Tokyo 2020 announces Torchbearer application opportunities and unveils uniform

    The Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee has announced that applications to become one of the around 10,000 torchbearers on the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay will open in June 2019. The process will be open to people from a wide range of ages and abilities residing both in Japan and abroad.

    Zakea’s Lausanne 2020 medal design reaches the top!

    The winning entry of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s Medal Design Competition for the Winter Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020 has been chosen. It was submitted by 20-year-old Zakea Page from New Zealand and is entitled “Beauty in Diversity”.
