    Penrith Whitewater Stadium

    A major sporting and recreation facility in Western Sydney, the Penrith Whitewater Stadium allows anyone over 12 years old to take on the challenge of Olympic-sized rapids. The course has hosted elite international canoeing events, including the 2005 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, the 2014 Junior/U-23 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships and the Oceania Canoe Slalom Championships in 2016. It also serves as a recreational facility offering whitewater rafting, kayaking and swift water rescue training courses to the public.

    President Bach in Slovenia

    IOC President Thomas Bach was in Slovenia on Monday, meeting athletes and Olympic hopefuls. At a canoe training facility in the capital, Ljubljana, he took part in a Q and A session with the athletes, who asked many questions about the COVID-19 crisis and preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The 40 athletes were from athletics, judo, taekwondo, canoe, sailing, handball and table tennis, including two medallists from the Olympic Games Rio 2016.

    London 2012 - Canoeing at London 2012 saw veterans shine again and new, emerging talent firmly establish itself on the international scene. In the men's K1, Italian world champion Daniele Molmenti cemented his place in the sport while Frenchman Tony Estanguet won gold in the men's C1 as expected. In the women's K1 France's Emilie Fer saw off a challenge from Slovakian world number one Jana Dukatova, while Australia's Jessica Fox came second to win silver. Meanwhile, Etienne Stott and Tim Baillie landed a GB one-two, as they claimed gold ahead of countrymen David Florence and Richard Hounslow to start a new era for Britain in the men's C2.
