    Canoeing’s speed merchants light up Rio

    The star of the Rio 2016 canoe sprint competitions was unquestionably Hungary’s Danuta Kozák, the winner of golds in three of the four women’s competitions: K1, K2 and K4 500m. Elsewhere at the Lagoa Stadium, Germany’s Sebastian Brendel retained his C1 1,000m crown and won another in C2 over the same distance. Two other athletes to win back-to-back titles were New Zealand’s Lisa Carrington in the women’s K1 200m and Ukraine’s Yuriy Cheban in the men’s C1 200m.
