1920: A portrait of fencer Nedo Nadi of Italy, regarded as the outstanding fencer of the century. He won the first of his six Olympic gold medals in Stockholm in a sensational performance, taking the foil title without a single defeat. He was then 19,and such a victory in a discipline which requires years of experience in order to achieve success was regarded as astonishing. His versatility, too, was remarkable since in the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp he won at epee and sabre as well . MandatoryCredit: IOC/Allsport
