    Nanjing signs off in style as curtain falls on the 2014 Youth Olympic Games

    The second edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games were brought to a close on 28 August in a symphony of colour, music, fireworks and dance, as Nanjing reminded the world once again that it really knows how to put on a show, in a ceremony that was every bit as impressive as the Opening Ceremony 13 days earlier.

    Nuno Merino: YOG athletes, just enjoy the show!

    Having already spent a couple of days in the ARM Lounge at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Village (YOV), Athlete Role Model (ARM) for Trampoline and member of the FIG Athletes’ Commission, Nuno Merino (POR), attended the Trampoline competitions at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre Gymnastics on Thursday and Friday. Nuno is one of thirty-eight Athlete Role Models giving advice and guidance to the 3,800 athletes at the YOG.

    IOC awards 2018-2024 broadcast rights in Japan

    The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has awarded its broadcast partner Japan Consortium the broadcast rights in Japan for the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang and the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in 2020 in Tokyo, as well as the broadcast rights for the 2022 and 2024 Olympic Games, the host cities of which have yet to be elected. The Japan Consortium has also acquired the right to broadcast the third Summer Youth Olympic Games, in Buenos Aires in 2018.

    IOC announces composition of Tokyo 2020 and Buenos Aires 2018 Coordination Commissions

    International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach has appointed IOC Vice-President John Coates as Chairman of the Coordination Commission for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad ­- Tokyo 2020; and Frank Fredericks as Chairman of the Coordination Commission for the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games - Buenos Aires 2018.
