Having already spent a couple of days in the ARM Lounge at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Village (YOV), Athlete Role Model (ARM) for Trampoline and member of the FIG Athletes’ Commission, Nuno Merino (POR), attended the Trampoline competitions at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre Gymnastics on Thursday and Friday. Nuno is one of thirty-eight Athlete Role Models giving advice and guidance to the 3,800 athletes at the YOG.

The second day of the 126th IOC Session began with a speech from UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. It marked the first time that a UN Secretary-General had attended an IOC Session. After addressing the members, the Secretary-General left to tour the Coastal Olympic Village, where he signed the Olympic Truce Wall.

The 125th IOC Session got officially under way with an opening ceremony featuring stunning tango performances in Buenos Aires’ world-famous opera house, the Teatro Colón.

September promises to be an important month in the history of the Olympic Movement, with three key decisions scheduled to be made during the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina, over the next few days. The full IOC membership is set to elect the host city for the 2020 Olympic Games on 7 September, decide on the composition of the 2020 Olympic programme the following day, and elect the next IOC President on 10 September.

After winning a third canoeing gold medal at last year’s London 2012 Olympic Games, Tony Estanguet will be hanging up his paddle to focus on his new role as an International Olympic Committee (IOC) member.

Earlier this month, Augustin Maillefer was given the all-important task of handing the envelope with the name of the winning host city of the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2018 to the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Jacques Rogge.
