    Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie represented the Bahamas in track and field at the 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games, winning 4x100m relay silver in 1996, 4x100m relay gold in 2000 and 200m bronze in 2004. In both 2004 and 2008, she carried her nation’s flag at the Opening Ceremony, while at Rio 2016, she got a further taste of the ceremonies, as coach of the Bahamas track and field team.

    Rio 2016 - Day 10: Drama in the men’s pole vault and the women’s beam!

The athletics in the evening was marked by David Rudisha’s double in the 800m, Shaunae Miller’s dive at the finish of the 400m, and the incredible win by Thiago Braz Da Silva in the pole vault. Simone Biles came to grief on the beam and handed the title to Sanne Wevers. Charlotte Dujardin’s dazzling display secured her a second consecutive dressage title; and Cuban Greco-Roman wrestler Mijain Lopez won his third.
