    Engaging with athletes on integrity

    The biggest-ever International Athletes’ Forum, organised by the IOC in Lausanne from 13 to 15 April, offered an excellent platform to raise awareness among the 350 athlete representatives in attendance about the importance of fighting corruption and competition manipulation. It was the first time that all 206 National Olympic Committee Athletes’ Commissions were invited.

    Zakea’s Lausanne 2020 medal design reaches the top!

    The winning entry of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s Medal Design Competition for the Winter Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020 has been chosen. It was submitted by 20-year-old Zakea Page from New Zealand and is entitled “Beauty in Diversity”.

    Biggest ever International Athletes’ Forum ends with concrete proposals to further increase the support to athletes at all levels

    Some 350 athlete representatives from 185 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), 50 International Federations (IFs), five continental Athletes Commissions (ACs), the ACs of all the Organising Committees of the upcoming Olympic Games, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the World Olympians Association (WOA) met over the past three days in Lausanne for the 9th edition of the International Athletes’ Forum (IAF). It was the biggest ever gathering of official athlete representatives, to which athletes from all 206 NOCs were invited. Also attending was IOC President Thomas Bach, Olympic Champion in fencing in Montreal 1976 and member of the first IOC Athletes’ Commission in 1981.

    How the Athletes’ Commission network ensures every athlete’s voice is heard

    Athletes’ views and opinions are involved in every aspect of decision-making within the Olympic Movement. An integral part of the work of the IOC Athletes’ Commission (IOC AC) and its Chair, Kirsty Coventry, involves maintaining a regular communications channel with athletes’ commissions all over the world. The network will gather in Lausanne for the International Athletes’ Forum from 13 to 15 April 2019.
