    IOC officially inaugurates Olympic House and celebrates 125th anniversary

    The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today officially opened Olympic House - one of the most sustainable buildings in the world. The inauguration was the highlight of the very emblematic and emotional celebrations to mark the 125th anniversary of the IOC, which was founded on 23 June 1894 by Pierre de Coubertin.

    Olympic superstars get active in Lausanne for Olympic Day

    As part of the inauguration of Olympic House, the new headquarters of the IOC, and the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the IOC on Olympic Day on Sunday (23 June), more than 30 visiting sports stars from the world of winter and summer sports will come to the Olympic Capital of Lausanne. On Saturday (22 June), they will get active at local sports clubs and take part in the Olympic Capital Run.

    Bjoergen becomes most medalled Winter Olympian of all time

    On 21 February 2018, Norway's Marit Bjoergen cemented her place in the Pantheon of the greatest Winter Olympians. Her bronze in the women’s cross-country team sprint took her medals total to 14 (seven of them gold), surpassing the previous benchmark set by her compatriot, biathlete Ole Einar Bjoerndalen. She still needs one win to match his tally of eight golds.

    Norway duo surge to team sprint free gold

    Norway’s Martin Johnsrud Sundby and Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo joined forces to power Norway to gold in the PyeongChang 2018 men’s team sprint free final at the Alpensia Cross-Country Skiing Centre on Wednesday 21 February. It was Norway’s second gold in the event, following their victory at Vancouver 2010.

    Bjoergen wins historic 13th medal as Norway win women’s 4x5km relay gold

    Marit Bjoergen skied a triumphant final leg to write her name into the Olympic Winter Games history books, delivering gold for Norway in the women's 4x5km cross country relay at the Alpensia Cross Country Centre on Saturday 17 February. In doing so, she joined countryman Ole Einar Bjoerndalen as the most successful winter Olympian of all time on 13 medals.
