The new archaeological excavations have also led to the discovery of a Roman-era pontoon, 40 metres in length and made up of several thousands of stones held in place by around 400 large oak stakes, which are remarkably well preserved. This monumental structure probably marked out the limits of the port basin of Lousonna. Fewer than 10 of these structures are known to exist throughout the entire Roman Empire, and are rarely so well preserved.

New archaeological excavations have led to the discovery of an intact six metre-high stone column. The column probably came from the Roman site of Lousonna (perhaps from a public building such as a temple or basilica, or from a wealthy private residence), but appears to have been transported here in the Medieval period to be recycled (as the presence of a nearby lime kiln would suggest).
