    Caeleb Dressel: Sights Set on Tokyo

    Born in August 1996, a few days after the Closing Ceremony of the Atlanta Games, American Caeleb Dressel seems poised for Olympic glory in Tokyo in 2020. At the Gwangju World Championships in Korea, he once again demonstrated the extent of his talent by winning six gold medals. He has undoubtedly become the swimming world’s new leading talent.

    “The Official Report of the Centennial Olympic Games: Atlanta 1996” marked a return to a more sober and traditional form. There were French and English box sets, published in 1997. The work consisted of three volumes (Planning and organizing; The centennial Olympic Games; The competition results). Volume 3 was bilingual.

    Athens 1896

    The Official Report of the Athens 1896 Olympic Games consisted of two parts: “The Olympic Games in Ancient Times”, published before the Games, and “The Olympic Games in 1896”, published after the Games. Pierre de Coubertin was the co-author. The two volumes were published in four languages in the form of two bilingual editions, French-Greek and English-German. This official report was the subject of various new editions, the first one in 1941.

    Athens 2004: Olympic legacies in the Greek capital

    Fifteen years ago the Olympic Games Athens 2004 were considered a “homecoming”: Greece was the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games and host of the inaugural Olympic Games of the modern era in 1896. Despite challenges related to the post-Games use of some of the Olympic venues, the Games did not disappoint their hosts: they created wide-ranging benefits, some of which the Greek capital continues to enjoy to this day.

    The Beginning of an Era - The Athens 1896 Olympic Games

    The Olympic Games in 1896 - the Games of the I Olympiad - were a landmark in the history of Olympism as the first Olympic Games of the modern era. The first celebration of the modern Olympic Games took place in its ancient birthplace of Athens. The Games attracted 241 athletes from 14 nations, with the largest delegations coming from Greece, Germany, France and Great Britain. With stadiums filled to capacity for competitions such as the Olympic marathon run final, the Athens 1896 Summer Games lead the way to over a century of Olympic history.
