    Dramatic second day of weightlifting

    Athletes from Thailand and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea dominated a dramatic second day of weightlifting at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games, each finishing with one gold and one silver medal. Rattanaphon Pakkaratha (THA) won the women’s 53kg class, while PAK Jongju (PRK) took gold in the men’s 62kg at the International Expo Centre.

    Layana Colman (BRA) said her gold medal-winning performance in the women’s -52kg judo event at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games came thanks to a year of extremely hard work .“All the work I put in is now worth it,” Colman said, as she smiled and choked back tears after her victory at the Longjiang Gymnasium on 18 August.
