Rio de Janeiro is set to welcome many of the word’s leading sailors to its shores from 2-9 August, as the Brazilian city hosts the Aquece International Sailing Regatta.

Most of the world’s main players in the sport came to Japan for the sailing test event, which has historically provided a fine dress rehearsal for eventual medallists.

The regatta at Rio 2016 saw the 10 events produce some spectacular competition and some thrilling climaxes, with Great Britain and the Netherlands leading the medal charge.

There was high drama and high emotions on the final day of the Rio 2016 sailing regatta at Marina da Gloria, with sailors from New Zealand, Great Britain, Croatia and finally Brazil sharing the gold medal spoils.
