Canoeing’s speed merchants light up Rio
The star of the Rio 2016 canoe sprint competitions was unquestionably Hungary’s Danuta Kozák, the winner of golds in three of the four women’s competitions: K1, K2 and K4 500m. Elsewhere at the Lagoa Stadium, Germany’s Sebastian Brendel retained his C1 1,000m crown and won another in C2 over the same distance. Two other athletes to win back-to-back titles were New Zealand’s Lisa Carrington in the women’s K1 200m and Ukraine’s Yuriy Cheban in the men’s C1 200m. -

Day 15 saw the curtain fall on the track and field action at London 2012, and once again it was Usain Bolt who stole the headlines on a day when 32 gold medals were won. -
Golds for Great Britain and Ukraine - London 2012 - Canoe
Great Britain's Ed McKeever stormed to gold in the men's Kayak Single (K1) 200m sprint at Eton Dorney, while Ukraine triumphed in the Canoe Single (C2) 200m. -

London 2012 - Ukraine's Yuri Cheban takes gold in the men's Canoe Single (C1) 200m sprint, with Lithuania's Jevgenij Shuklin in silver on the finish line and Russian Ivan Shtyl taking bronze.
