    Onward and upward for sport climbing

    The first-ever World Beach Games, held in Doha in October 2019, shined a spotlight on sport climbing, which will make its Olympic Games debut at Tokyo 2020.     Christian Taylor on the hunt for a third Olympic title and the triple jump world record

    The reigning double Olympic champion in the triple jump, American Christian Taylor, won his fourth world title in Doha on 29 September 2019. Having recorded the second best-ever jump in the history of his discipline in 2015, with a leap of 18.21m, he now has his sights set on a third Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games, and is continuing his quest to beat the world record – 18.29m – held by Great Britain’s Jonathan Edwards since 1995.

    Lausanne 2020 competition schedule unveiled

    The official competition schedule of the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games was released by the Organising Committee. With the first competitions kicking off in Les Diablerets, Villars and Lausanne on January 10th, 2020, the day after the Opening Ceremony in Lausanne and continuing until the Closing Ceremony on January 22nd.

    The legend of Sir Steve Redgrave, the only rower to have won five gold medals

    Only one rower has won five gold medals at five consecutive editions of the Olympic Games. From Los Angeles 1984 to Sydney 2000, in various boats, on each occasion Sir Steve Redgrave stepped up onto the highest level of the podium. He ended his career on a high at the age of 38, on 23 September 2000, when he won his last title with the British coxless four.
