He was born in Seoul, Republic of Korea, but moved to Maryland, United States of America, with his mother, sister and grandmother at age four. His father still lives in Republic of Korea, and he is looking forward to his family being able to see him compete at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. "Just having familiar eyes watching me, I think that will definitely give me an extra spark.
