Awards In 2017 she was named Ski Sportsperson of the Year by her fellow athletes in an award organised by the German Ski Association [DSV]. It was the third time she had claimed the title. At the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, she became the first female biathlete to win gold in both the sprint and pursuit events at a single Olympic Winter Games. At the 2017 World Championships in Hochfilzen, Austria, she became the first athlete, male or female, to win five gold medals at a single edition of the biathlon world championships. She also won a silver medal at the event, taking her tally to six medals at the tournament and 11 consecutive medals in world championship races [a streak that began when she won five medals at the 2016 edition].
