Injuries In July 2011 he suffered a herniated disc in his back, between the L5 and S1 vertebrae. He continued to compete, using a range of physiotherapy techniques to get him through the pain, but by February 2012 he could no longer continue and underwent multiple surgeries, keeping him out of competition for a year.
