1 OCT 1988: STEFFI GRAF OF WEST GERMANY WAVES TO THE CROWD AFTER RECEIVING HER GOLD MEDAL IN THE WOMENS SINGLES TENNIS COMPETITION AT THE 1988 SEOUL OLYMPICS. GRAF DEFEATED GABRIELLA SABATINI OF ARGENTINA 6-3, 6-3 IN THE FINAL TO CLAIM THE GOLD.

Steffi Graf of Germany winning the women's Olympic tennis title in Seoul South Korea in 1988. The sport returned to the games in 1988 after being dropped from the programme in 1924. Steffi clinched the greatest year in women's tennis by adding the Olympic title to her Grand Slam victories in the Australian and Frenchopen, Wimbledon and US Championships.
