Winner’s medal London 1948
The obverse of the medal designed by Cassioli features a depiction of the goddess Nike (Victoria) holding a winner’s crown in her right hand. On her right, there is the inscription “XIVth / Olympiad / London / 1948” and a reproduction of the Colosseum in Rome. Unlike the reverse of the medal, this obverse would continue to be used after the 1968 Games in Mexico City
