Four-man bobsleigh (Lake Placid 1932)

The “USA I” four-man bobsleigh team received a trophy from Germany’s Werner Zahn after their victory in the event. Edward Eagan (in the foreground, third from the left) had just accomplished an exceptional double: he had already become Olympic heavyweight boxing champion at the Antwerp Games in 1920, and, in Lake Placid, became the first athlete to win a gold medal in both the Summer and the Winter Games ©IOC
