Athletics The Lightning Bolt takes the 100m by storm

Beijing - 16 August 2008: Usain Bolt finishes way ahead of the field in the Men's 100m Final at Beijing's National Stadium. To his right, Trinidad's Richard Thompson takes the silver in 9.89 seconds, while to his left, Darvis Patton of the USA (8th in 10.03 secs) and Bolt's compatriot Michael Frater (6th in 9.97 secs) finish way off the pace. At the 60m mark, already certain that he cannot be caught, Bolt stretches out his arms, before crossing the line in 9.69 seconds and beating his chest in triumph as he sets a new world record to provide the 91,000 onlooking spectators in the stadium with a close-up view of one of sport's most magical ever moments
