Youth Olympic Village officially opens

The snow was settling, the flags of all 70 countries flying and the excited athletes arriving, as the Youth Olympic Village was officially opened on Saturday.

Never one to miss a photo op, Yoggl was of course there with one of his volunteer friends to begin welcoming the 1,700 young competitors and officials to their new home for the next two weeks.

One of the first teams to arrive was the team from the Republic of Korea. And, despite the long journey, we are pleased to report that their Youth Olympic spirit was very much alive and kicking as they gleefully posed for photos with Yoggl!

The newly built complex is made up of 13 impressive buildings that accommodate a total of 444 apartments. As well as being at the cutting edge of design, the YOV is also the largest super environmentally-friendly complex in Europe! Think YOG. Think Green!
