The Winter Youth Olympic Games is not only bringing together the athletes of the world, but it’s also uniting students through the Culture and Education Program (CEP).
Local schools in Innsbruck are organising booths at the CEP which provide information about each country participating in the games. The BRG BORG Telfs school in Innsbruck was given the opportunity to organise the Poland booth.
“The students asked me and I was very happy do that,” said teacher Brigitte Waldhart.
“They linked us with a partner class in Poland to help us get information.”
What Brigitte and her students didn’t know was that their partners in Warsaw would be flown over to see the finished product.
Anna Zawadzka and her Polish class met the students from Innsbruck for the very first time at the booth on Monday.
“They will learn different cultures, that is very important,” said Anna.
After a traditional Polish dance the two classes had time to catch up and check out the booth.
“They will learn that the whole world is open to them and they can get everything they want.”
