World Olympians: Welcome to Lausanne!

The General Assembly of the World Olympians Association (WOA) will take place on 28 and 29 November in the Olympic Capital, Lausanne. Chaired by President Pál Schmitt, former Olympic champions and their National Associations will meet at the Olympic Museum. IOC President Jacques Rogge will welcome the Olympians to Lausanne.

Multiple objectives
The objectives of the World Olympians Association are multiple: to disseminate Olympic ideals, provide educational and environmental protection programmes, fight against drugs, violence and intolerance, and contribute to sport-centred charitable programmes.

101 National Associations
The World Olympians Association was founded by former IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch, following the Centennial Olympic Congress of Unity, held in Paris in 1994. It is an independent, global organisation representing all Olympians, through 101 National Associations.

Meet in Athens
The VISA Olympians Reunion Centre will play host to the Olympians during the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad in Athens. It will be located in central Athens, at the Athens Tennis Club, which was the official venue for tennis and fencing during the 1896 Games and is directly opposite the 1896 Olympic Stadium.
