The International Ski Federation has announced that the finals of the 2003/2004 World Cup season for Alpine, cross-country and freestyle skiing and snowboarding will take place in March 2004 in Piedmont, the region that will host the XX Olympic Winter Games. More than 20 competitions will be organised between 10 and 14 March 2004. This will be a real test for all the venues involved in the Olympic Winter Games, which will take place between 10 and 26 February 2006 in Turin and the surrounding winter resorts.
More than 20 competitions in four days
Sestriere will host the Alpine skiing with the women and men’s downhill races, two super Gs, two giant slaloms and two slaloms. Pragelato will stage the cross-country sprint competition, as well as a women's 15km and a men's 30km race. On the slopes of Bardonecchia, the snowboarders will compete in the following disciplines: boarder cross, half-pipe and giant slalom. Finally, the public can attend the freestyle skiing in Saulze d'Oulx.
Other competitions in 2005
Other competitions are planned for the 2004/2005 winter season in Piedmont. Sestriere, Pragelato, Bardonecchia and Sauze d'Oulx will host several competitions in the disciplines that they will be staging.
