Work together, learn together and grow together

Behind every great athlete there is a great coach. And behind every good athlete/coach relationship there are mutual respect, shared goals and the drive and determination to succeed.

At the Innsbruck 2012 Youth Olympic Games we witnessed just how important and valuable this relationship is. Scenes of jubilation and consolation were aplenty on the side lines as both the good and bad times were shared between athlete and coach.

We revisit some of those special moments in this film and also hear from a few of sport’s most successful partnerships, including Ukrainian Olympic champion pole vaulter Sergey Bubka and his coach Vitaly Petrov, Canadian ice hockey player and three-time Olympic gold medallist Jennifer Botterill and her coach, Melody Davidson.

So what is the key to a successful athlete/coach relationship? It’s about working together, learning together and growing together. After all, there is no ‘i’ in team!
