Visual Games Learning platform is now LIVE!

Visual Games Learning (VGL) is a new and innovative platform which hosts all of the IOC’s Games-related visual learning content. Remember “Structured Interviews”, an activity OGKM has been running with OCOGs since Rio 2016? VGL is now your one-stop shop to access 8,000+ interviews, in addition to operational photos and educational videos. And this is only the start! VGL will continually evolve and develop to suit the educational needs of the OCOGs and the IOC. Haven’t accessed VGL yet? Please contact help.vgl@olympic.org to get set up and log on today.

New clip highlights tangible changes through Olympic Agenda 2020/the New Norm

Did you know that, thanks to the New Norm’s 118 reforms, 30,000 seats were reallocated to the public at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 in order to have Olympic fans front and centre, generating additional revenue for the OCOG in the process? Were you aware that, thanks to these new measures, there wasn’t a need for a secondary International Broadcast Centre?

A new four-minute clip, produced by the IOC’s Games Promotion unit, presents a number of concrete benefits introduced by Olympic Agenda 2020/the New Norm to Games projects and people since February 2018. While the film recalls successes from PyeongChang 2018, it also looks ahead to future Games editions, presenting how Tokyo 2020 managed to save USD 4.3 billion, as well as a range of initiatives being taken by Beijing 2022, Paris 2024 and LA 2028 to pursue short- and long-term development goals in their respective cities and regions. A helpful resource to explain the New Norm and its benefits to a variety of stakeholders! Please help IKL spread the word and click here to watch the clip.

In addition, the first film about the philosophy of the New Norm can be found here. A short video about the “Economics of the Games”, explaining in simple terms the costs and benefits of hosting the Olympics, is available as well.
