The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) published today the new list of banned substances and methods, which will help guide doping control within the world of sport from January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2003.

In releasing this list, the IOC and WADA have provided International Sports Federations, National Olympic Committees and other Olympic partners the required three-month notice before this new list goes into effect. The current list, which was published in May 2001, will be applicable until December 31, 2002.

For the first time, the list of prohibited methods includes a reference to genetic doping.
