Vancouver 2010: Nomination of Board of Directors completed

Nominations to the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Organising Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (OCOG) are completed. The Board includes people from diverse backgrounds, reflecting the inclusive planning developed during the Vancouver 2010 bid process. The Board is responsible for overseeing all aspects of organising and hosting the 2010 Winter Games.

The OCOG Board is made up of members nominated by: the Canadian Olympic Committee, including the three Canadian members of the International Olympic Committee (seven); the Government of Canada (three); the Province of British Columbia (three); the City of Vancouver (two); the Resort Municipality of Whistler (two); the Canadian Paralympic Committee (one); and a joint appointment by the Band Councils of the Lil'wat and Squamish Nations (one).

Election of the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman to come

One of the board's first tasks will be to select a Chief Executive Officer and a Chairman.

Seminar in November

From 13 to 15 November, the Vancouver OCOG will participate in a seminar in Vancouver, which will include members of the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Coordination Commission for the 2010 Winter Games.

Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games

The IOC selected Vancouver as the Host City of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games at its Session in Prague on 2 July, 2003. The 2010 Olympic Winter Games will be staged in Vancouver and Whistler from 12 to 28 February 2010. Whistler will host the Paralympic Winter Games from 12 to 21 March 2010.
