TWO DECADES OF FINANCIAL GROWTH AND UNPRECEDENTED SUPPORT FOR SPORT DOCUMENTED IN MOSCOW ISSUE OF IOC’s ‘MARKETING MATTERS’


Lausanne, 4 July 2001 - The financial growth of the Olympic Movement and the success of global marketing programmes over the past twenty years is outlined in the latest issue of the International Olympic Committee’s Marketing Matters.

Released in time for the 112th Session in Moscow, the publication (Marketing Matters 19, dated July 2001) charts the evolution, during the Presidency of Juan Antonio Samaranch, of the financial status of the Olympic Movement from 1980 to now.

Marketing Matters 19 covers the revenue growth through the major marketing programmes including broadcasting and the TOP Programme and the significant growth of revenue distribution to Organising Committees, International Sports Federations and to Olympic Solidarity.

The issue also documents the key marketing issues relevant to the selection of the 2008 Host City.

Marketing Matters is now being mailed out, but for media wanting immediate access, the issue is available on the IOC’s official Website and also on the official site for the 112th Session in Moscow.
