TURIN 2006: last chance for tickets to some sessions
The first phase of ticketing for the XX Olympic Winter Games – Turin 2006 will end on 19 December 2004 with some sports sessions already oversubscribed. This will mean that when phase two of ticketing begins in February, some sessions will already be sold out and thus unavailable to latecomers.
Where To Apply For Tickets
Until Sunday, tickets for all available events and price categories can be chosen on the Internet at www.torino2006.org. The tickets can also be applied for, until Friday, at branches of the Sanpaolo Group, or until Saturday at one of the TicketOne outlets or via the call centre on 848882006.
Over the Internet
People living outside Italy, but inside the European Economic Area, can apply either over the Internet, by calling the call centre on +39 039 83 82 50 or by contacting their National Olympic Committee. In other countries, people may purchase their tickets from their National Olympic Committee or authorised agent.
When phase two of ticket sales gets underway, tickets for some sessions will no longer be available because requests for some events are already greater than the number of seats available. The seats for these events will be awarded using a random selection process. All sessions of figure skating and speed skating, the men’s ice hockey final and some sessions of ski jumping fall into this category of selection. When requesting these sports sessions, people are strongly advised to indicate an alternative, which may be for a different price category in the same event.
The Olympic Winter Games will be held in Turin from 10 to 26 February 2006. The Winter Games comprise seven different sports and 15 different disciplines, which will be played out in eight different competition venues. Around 2,500 athletes, 650 judges and umpires and 1.5 million spectators are expected to participate in this 20th edition of the Winter Games.
